After The
Match- At the hour mark both Grand
Champions were still setting a fast pace. Neither STP's Buck or Rebel's
Sandman could get much ahead of the other one. It was obvious that this
was going to be a long one and I had the I.V. fluids, Azium and other
equipment ready to go.
Antibiotics-
Antibiotics stop infection one of two
ways. Either by inhibiting the spread and growth of bacteria (thereby
allowing the bacteria to die off naturally and be destroyed by the
body's immune system) or by actually killing the bacteria by means of
bacterial death upon contact with certain concentrations of drugs.
Grand
Champion Art ROM- I was recently
asked about the dog named "Art". This dog was a very important part of
Bulldog history. This dog came on the scene about the time when
mediocrity in the dogs was coming to an end. The combine that originally
owned and campaigned Art were among some of the best dog men of that day
and had as good a "Stable" of great dogs as there were around of that
time.
W.C.C.'s
Assassinator ROM- "Assassinator" was
born on June 12,1986. Her father was the 4x winner, Jacobs and Hicks'
"Assassin 1". "Assassin 1" won his four matches in dominating fashion.
He didn't have an overly hard mouth, but he had the speed and ability to
beat his opponent to almost every hold and to out wrestle them once he
got there.
Battle of the Grand
Champions- I was conditioning Super Gnat's Gr.Ch. Ace for his 4th
match when I received a call from S.T.P. He explained that his Gr.Ch.
Buck was contracted into Ricky Jones and Gr.Ch. Sandman, at 48 lbs. Both
dogs were exceptionally seasoned match dogs with similar styles and
S.T.P. predicted that the match would be a long one.
Tribute to Bobby
Smith- A few years back when I was still pretty new to the game,
I had the great fortune of meeting one of the true Texas old timers
while he was still somewhat active. The story itself is somewhat
comical.
Kirkland's Champion Texas- Texas' first match was against Villarreal,
which he won easily. His second match was into Mayo's 4-time winner
Plug. It went 1:15 and Plug didn't make it in the end. -

Santa's Grand Champion Mongoose- Bred by Rushin Kennels, Mongoose or "Goose"
as he is commonly called won his first three for the Havana Boys. Havana
Chico ran into some problems and had to sell him, which is when we
acquired him and finished him off for his Grand Championship.
In Fond Memory- Many fanciers like to rate match dogs
the same way boxing fans categorize professional fighters. Dogs are
often rated as being the best at their weight, hardest biter and best
pound for pound fighter. I’d like to share some of my views in this
area.
Maurice Carver - It was always an honor to write about
someone as diverse as Maurice Carver. Much has been said about this
"bigger than life' Texan, and almost everyone that knew him either
strongly liked or disliked him.
Don Mayfield - I have chosen today to write about the man
my father considered the greatest conditioner of all times. Earl Tudor
once said that conditioning was seventy percent of winning. My father
and I have always believed that it was more like eighty-five
percent.
